Design that keeps the dream connected to the budget.

Residential design, feasibility, coordination, and build-ready documentation shaped around how you want to live, what the site allows, and what the budget needs to respect.

Masterwork Design helps homeowners and builders resolve the critical decisions early, before time is spent on plans that may not fit the project realities.

Free Design Consultation

A one-time introductory meeting to clarify fit, process, project hurdles, and next steps.

25+ years of residential design and construction leadership.

Who Leads the Work

Design led by real construction experience.

For over 25 years, our leadership has worked inside residential construction — not just behind a drafting desk. We have designed and directly built custom homes, designed and built complex remodels, and built projects designed by others.

This experience changes how we design. Our drawings are informed by real sequencing, real cost pressures, field coordination, and structural logic. We do not design in theory. We design for buildability.

What Design Solves

The problem is not having big ideas. It is designing them in the wrong order.

Many homeowners spend time developing plans before the budget, site, lifestyle needs, and construction realities have been reconciled. Masterwork helps shape the direction early so the plan has a better chance of becoming something you can actually build.

Budget Alignment

Budget is treated as a design constraint from the beginning, so the plan does not outrun what the project can responsibly support.

Planning Hurdles

Site realities, planning guidelines, zoning questions, and jurisdictional constraints are surfaced before the design moves too far.

Design Direction

Lifestyle, future living, and fit with the surrounding environment become leaders of the design instead of afterthoughts.

Free First Meeting

What you should leave with.

The first meeting is a focused design conversation, not a sales call. It is intended to help you understand the right path forward before committing to feasibility, full plans, or a build partner.

  • Clarity on the right process for your project
  • A clearer sense of planning, site, zoning, or design hurdles
  • A rough budget direction based on scope and complexity
  • Early design priorities tied to lifestyle, future living, and the surrounding environment
  • A recommendation on whether to proceed into feasibility, full design, or pause

The Process

Three steps to clarity.

1

Free Design Consultation

A one-time introductory meeting covering goals, site realities, budget direction, design priorities, and the right next step.

Investment: Free

2

Feasibility & Proposed Build

Onsite-informed conceptual planning, simple elevations, feasibility checks, and a realistic cost range to validate direction before full plans.

Typical Investment Range: $2,500–$7,500+

Depending on scope and complexity.

Feasibility includes concept plans, elevations, spatial planning, and a realistic preliminary cost range. This phase is not permit-ready documentation and does not include engineering or bidding support.

3

Construction Design

Complete, build-ready documentation coordinated for permitting, engineering, and construction.

Typical Investment Range: $7,500–$25,000+

Depending on scope, complexity, and level of detailing required.

Construction Design includes build-ready documentation suitable for permit submission and contractor coordination. Structural engineering and truss design are third-party pass-through services with no markup.

Each step stands on its own. Clients decide when to proceed.

Why Design Comes First

Planning that protects your investment.

The budget belongs inside the design conversation

Good design protects the heart of the dream while shaping the scope into something realistic.

The site and lifestyle should lead the plan

The strongest direction comes from how you want to live, how the property works, and what the surrounding environment asks of the home.

Documentation is builder-neutral

The work we produce is valuable whether you build with Masterwork or take it elsewhere.

No obligation to build with us

Clients are not required to build with Masterwork. The design is yours.

Design support for builders and general contractors

Masterwork supports select builders with feasibility analysis, residential design, documentation, client-facing design direction, and build-aware planning. Some clients build with Masterwork, but many bring our design work to their own contractor or engage us through a contractor-led project.

Common Questions

Design process FAQs

Can we skip the first design conversation and go straight to plans?

Usually no. The first conversation is free and helps clarify goals, site realities, budget alignment, and the right next step before full design work begins.

What is included in Feasibility and Proposed Build?

This phase includes conceptual planning, simple elevations, high-level feasibility review, and a preliminary cost range to test direction before full plans.

Is Feasibility and Proposed Build permit-ready?

No. It is a decision-making phase. Permit-ready documentation is produced in Construction Design.

Do we have to build with Masterwork after design?

No. Design work is builder-neutral and can be used with Masterwork or another builder.

Start with a free design conversation.

If you are planning a custom home, complex renovation, or contractor-led residential project, the first step is a one-time meeting to clarify fit, budget direction, design priorities, and the process ahead.

This is a design conversation — not a sales call.

Some homeowners continue into feasibility or full design. Some builders bring us in as a design partner. Others leave with enough clarity to pause. Each outcome is valid.
